Pay It Forward: Now, It’s a Tradition
In 2007, State Bank & Trust began a unique project – a giving challenge that became both enriching and humbling as each employee took the opportunity to “Pay It Forward” to those in need. Since then, Pay It Forward has become a tradition, as each full-time employee receives $1,000 and each part-time employee $500 each year to help others – a total commitment of more than half a million dollars. Each employee chooses how they want to use their Pay It Forward funds to help individuals, families or organizations in need.
It’s a long-term challenge as throughout the year, our employees carefully consider the many needs in our communities and our world. To date, we have given away more than $1.5 million dollars to people and causes we care about.
On this Web site, you will find new stories of giving from the past year. Some employees choose to make their money grow by joining with co-workers or making sure their gifts are matched by local foundations. Employees have given to schools and churches; they have designated giving that helps children and senior citizens; they have donated to organizations that help animals; they have helped people here at home and around the globe. Many have connected with a single individual or family who inspires them to give.
At State Bank & Trust, we have learned that we are blessed many times over each time we Pay It Forward. Even a small gift can make a life-changing difference for someone in need. It is our hope that in reading these stories, you may be moved to post a need, adopt a cause, donate to our Pay It Forward program, or choose your own Pay It Forward project. We hope all of you will share in the joy of lending a hand where the needs are greatest.
